Last Sunday's Gospel ...
Jesus visited the home of Martha and Mary - Luke 10:38-42 - Luke's story of Mary and Martha of Bethany, sisters of Lazarus, teaches us about hospitality, service, action, contemplation and distraction in pursuit of their Catholic fullness.
Dear Parents,
It is such a pleasure to be Relieving Principal at such a wonderful school until the middle of next week when Mrs Rolfe returns from her pilgrimage. The pilgrimage is an excellent faith opportunity for Principals and Church leaders.
The staff at the school are very professional and excellent educators. The students are very motivated in their learning and are also keen to participate in the soon to be held Liturgy and Colour Run to celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Saint Mary MacKillop's work in this diocese was in education and throughout the area fifteen schools were established during her life time and many more following her death so it is very fitting that we celebrate her life in our schools.
Blessed Mary MacKillop's Spirituality in our Everyday Lives:
Mary was one of those pioneers who helped to build our traditions and our heritage in this Great South Land. She wrote these words to help Roman authorities understand the needs of the poor in outback Australia. As she explained, The good of Australian children is alone what we seek (1873).
Today in this country of our hopes and dreams, she still says to us, let us, one and all, try to remember why God called us here (1878).
Isn't it so that we, too, can respond by building a bridge to our fellow Australians who need a helping hand - especially the young and the battlers? What is mateship unless it is based on true justice and equality for all?

St Mary of the Cross Feast Day - Colour Run, Thursday 8th August
On Thursday 8th August we will be coming together as a school for a liturgy at 9.00am in the hall and this will be followed by our colour run on the back playground. We still need parent assistance for helping to douse the students with colour during the run, so please complete the bottom of the note sent home earlier in the week and return it to your child's class teacher. We really would like a large number of helpers. Don't forget to get those sponsors! The fund-raising has started very well and we are looking foward to seeing you at these celebrations.
