Last Sunday's Gospel ...
Jesus appeared to the disciples, passing through a locked door to get to them. They could see him and touch him. He had a glorified body but was fully and physically alive. He had conquered death for himself and us. Thomas wasn’t present the first time and it is from this that Jesus sends us a special message – relevant 2000 years later. “Blessed are those who have not seen me yet still believe.”

Did you know ...
The disciples lived in fear, after Jesus’ crucifixion, of being tried and executed in the same way Jesus was. They hid themselves away to avoid being arrested.
Stewardship Thought ...
"Blessed are they who have not seen and yet believe," Jesus said. For those who have not seen to believe, however, we must be good stewards of our faith, living it joyfully and sharing it generously. Then, in our time, too, men and women in great numbers will be "added to the Lord."
I hope you all had a lovely break from school routine and enjoyed a blessed Easter with your families. It gave me a very happy day on Tuesday to see all the students having a wonderful day with their friends and a fresh eagerness to learn.
ANZAC Day last Thursday gave our school the opportunity to join with the wider community in commemorating those who fought to give us the way of life we enjoy today. Miss O’Sullivan and Mr Marshall, along with a dozen students and their parents marched along Queen Street and our Captains laid a wreath on our behalf. The students wore their uniforms with pride and I thank you, parents too, for making that effort in the holidays. For some it was the last of many marches with us and we appreciate your ongoing support.
It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to have Andrew Chinn work with our students yesterday and give an afternoon concert. The students had a fantastic time and many of our shiest absolutely shone. Andrew has a special gift when it comes to bringing out their best and giving them the confidence to perform. It was a unique way of reflecting on the Easter story of hope and new life in the Resurrection. Thank you to the parents who were able to join us too.
You will no doubt have noticed the old church is rapidly changing into our hall. Thank you for being patient with the entry into the school. I particularly appreciate you closing the carpark gate behind you during the day to keep the grounds safe. All should be complete by the end of this term. We will notify you of the changes to drop off and pick up as soon as we have access to that area.
The P&F meeting is on Monday evening. I encourage you to come along and help contribute to our school community. The P&F give me a great deal of very valuable feedback and ideas for how we can improve our school for the students. I will be presenting a ‘Wish list’. The P&F asked me for some suggestions of projects or resources we need around the school. We’ll give you an opportunity for input as well and keep you posted on what we decide.
God Bless.

Principal
Welcome back to Term 2! It was lovely to see all of the students happy to be back at school and ready to launch into new learning this term.
National Assessment Program, Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
In Weeks 3 and 4 of this term our Years 3 and 5 students will be participating in NAPLAN. This assessment is completed by all students across Australia in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Your child does not need to do any additional preparation for these tests other than have a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast. If your child seems anxious about the testing, please contact their classroom teacher. If they are slightly unwell on the testing day/s, we ask that you still send them to school and we can send them home after the test, if required. If your child is too unwell to come to school at all, please notify the office as soon as possible. More detailed information will be sent home to Years 3 and 5 students next week with a timetable of the exact testing days during this time.
Walk Safely to School Day
National Walk Safely to School Day is on Friday 17th May. This is an annual event that encourages primary school children, their parents and families to walk safely to school and in turn encouraging them to be more active and focus on road safety when crossing the road. Walking to school from home may not be possible on the day due to distance, however, you may like to park a street or two away and walk from there. We will have some Year 6 captains at our school gate to give out stickers to any students who have walked to school safely on the day.
