Dear Parents,
The end of another successful year at OLHC has arrived. To our leaving Year 6 students, I wish you all the very best as you embark on the new adventures of high school. Know that you always have a place at OLHC and that you are welcome to come back and visit at any time. To our leaving families, for many of you it has been a number of years since you commenced at OLHC with young children and sometimes, babies not yet born. We are very grateful to have been a part of your lives and hope that we have helped with the privilege and responsibility of bringing up your children. I pray you also know you are welcome at OLHC.
This year, of course, I too have to say good bye to a very special place full of extraordinary people. I will have the chance to formally thank you all in person at Mass on Friday but also take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all of you in the parent community for your unfailing support of your children, the school and me. Together we have made the school the wonderful place of faith, love and learning that it is. You have always made it easy for me to talk to you, even when it was sometimes to tell you something difficult to hear. We worked through many hardships. I was always the one principal in the diocese who never complained about my parents. I didn’t need to because we always worked things out. I do truly thank you for that. Thank you also for the many occasions you have found to thank me personally over the last few weeks. Your messages and stories make all the hard work worthwhile. I shall still be part of the parish so will be able to keep up with you at Mass and various parish activities. I am very glad to be leaving ‘my’ school in the capable hands of Ms Jane Webb. I have known her for a number of years and am very confident that she will look after you all and that you will come to know and appreciate her as much as I do. She has a great deal of wisdom and experience, is very warm hearted, and puts the students first in all that she does. I know you will make her feel welcome and supported just as you have done for me over so many years. I leave with an extremely talented and enthusiastic teaching staff in place too. I can assure you the school is very well set up and your children are in the best of hands for 2020.
I wish you all a beautiful Christmas and a wonderful holiday season filled with happy memories to reflect on in the years to come.
God Bless.

Principal
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the year and it is time for the last newsletter of 2019. Each year is always filled with so much learning, celebration, friendship and now is the time to reflect on all that has been achieved this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff of OLHC who work so tirelessly for the good of the students in their class, constantly implementing strategies to improve their learning. The end of the year is particularly busy with writing reports and ticking off the mountain of jobs at this time. I wish all of the staff a blessed Christmas and a very relaxing holiday so they are refreshed and ready for 2020.
I would also like to acknowledge the hard work of the students throughout the year. It is a pleasure to go into classrooms and to talk to them about what they are learning and how they are going with their learning. A special thank you to you, the parents as well, for all you do to prepare your children so they are ready to learn each day. May this Christmas season bring you precious family time and much joy. A special mention to the Year 6 cohort who celebrated their graduation last night. They hold a very special place in my heart, having taught them for two years. They should be very proud of the way they have led the school this year as they have set a wonderful standard for the rest of the school to follow. I wish them every success in High School, may they take every opportunity offered to them and make many more treasured memories through this next stage of their educational journey.
As mentioned in previous newsletters, Kindergarten to Year 2 reports are available from today through Compass and Year 3 to Year 6 reports are available from tomorrow. If you are having any trouble accessing your child’s report please contact the office.

Stewardship Thought
We must be good stewards of God's gifts to us, receiving them gratefully and cultivating them with care, lest we be the ones about who John the Baptist spoke, "Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
