FROM THE GOSPEL
Jesus explained to His disciples that He was the Bread from Heaven that would give life to the world. They would have been confused by this, wondering how their friend and teacher could possibly be bread. In the Old Testament, God provided Moses and the Israelites escaping from Egypt manna from heaven so they could survive in the desert. Jesus was telling the disciples that He would replace that with Himself and become the Eucharist that continues to nourish us today.
Of course, that didn’t make sense to the apostles but with the Last Supper and Jesus’ death and resurrection, events that we know about, we have the advantage of being able to understand what Jesus meant.

Fathers Day Stalls
Next week, on Tuesday and Friday our students will have the opportunity to take home gifts for the special men in their lives. Stalls are generously provided by the Parents & Friends Association.
We are extremely grateful to the P & F who continue to support community building initiatives such as this that provide our students with the opportunity to remember and celebrate these special men, fathers, grandfathers, uncles and stepfathers.
This celebration gives us reason to pause, to pray for, and to reflect on the Fathers’ we honour. On this Fathers' Day, we celebrate, congratulate, and pray for the men who continue to reflect the Divine qualities of fatherhood as they lovingly establish, nourish, and maintain their families. Fathers are a blessing, and we thank them for blessing us with lives of dedication, endurance, and love.
Every father is a work in progress and each father is unique. There is no one-size-fits-all pattern for fatherhood. Fathers-to-be, have often developed a clear sense of the kind of parent they intend to become. They know, at least, what kind of parent they don’t want to be. But the first days after a child’s birth, these thoughts are challenged by the realisation that fatherhood is a real-life role that is influenced daily by the unexpected. A new father, in a sense, embarks on a pilgrimage of sorts. As the child grows older, a father is repeatedly challenged to understand, support and always love his child, who, it turns out, is nothing less than the complex web of humanity that all of us are.
The pilgrimage into fatherhood has one big starting point followed by a thousand new starting points along the way. The journey is long. Over time a father finds himself tugged at and urged along both in welcome and unwelcome ways. The journey into fatherhood challenges a man to grow and change in ways he could not imagine on the day of his first child’s birth. Slowly, life transforms for parents ~ fathers and mothers.
A father’s pilgrimage is a vocation, calling him to discover each child as a unique individual and to nurture that. But he discovers something else too. Little by little, astonishingly, he discovers himself along the way ~ someone whose hidden gifts have been unearthed by his children.
We remember and gratefully keep in our prayers all the Our Lady Help of Christians fathers and father figures as they continue their daily pilgrimage. We also remember those fathers who are now enjoying their eternal reward in heaven. May they rest in peace.
The following reflection, inspired by Kirk Loadman captures the many and varied men who may carry the title of father, all of whom we celebrate and give thanks for this next Sunday.
"Let us praise those fathers who strive to balance the demands of work, marriage, and children with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice.
Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model for a father, worked hard to become a good father figure for their own children.
Let us praise those fathers who by their own account were not always there for their children, but who continue to offer those children, now grown, their love and support.
Let us pray for those fathers who have been wounded by the neglect and hostility of their children.
Let us praise those fathers who, despite broken relationships, have remained in their children's lives.
Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted, and whose love and support has offered healing.
Let us praise those fathers who, as stepfathers, freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and have earned their stepchildren's love and respect.
Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death and continue to hold the child in their heart.
Let us praise those men who have no children but who cherish the next generation as if they were their own.
Let us praise those men who have 'fathered' us in their role as mentors and guides.
Let us praise those men who are about to become fathers; may they openly delight in their children.
And let us praise those fathers who have died but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us."
Let us use Fathers' Day to let the special men in our lives know the unique place they have in our lives and the valuable influence they have on us.
Enjoy the week ahead and most especially to all those in our community who hold the title ‘Father’ - Wishing all our fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and special male role models a Happy Fathers' Day for next weekend!

As mentioned in the last newsletter, our school community (staff, parents and Years 4-6) were asked to give feedback to the school through responding to the Tell Them From Me Survey.
Today’s feedback reflects the ‘student voice’ of the school. Overwhelmingly, the students responded positively (above 70%) that they agree / strongly agree that they:
- feel accepted and valued by their peers and by others at their school. (70%)
- have friends at school they can trust and who encourage them to make positive choices. (92%)
- believe that schooling is useful in their everyday life and will have a strong bearing on their future. (86%)
- try hard to succeed in their learning. (89%)
- that do not get in trouble at school for disruptive or inappropriate behaviour. (85%)
The survey results also affirmed the need for our current school goal of working towards students demonstrating engagement and growth in English based on their assessed need as only 55% of the students agreed or strongly agreed that they are:
- interested and motivated in their learning.

Parent Feeback - OLHC Vision and Mission Statement
As a school community, we are currently working with Gary Quinn from the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong and have begun a process of comprehensively reviewing the school’s Vision and Mission statement.
The purpose of this review is to ensure that everyone associated with the school has a clear understanding about our Vision and Mission purpose and direction, so that we are providing the best possible Catholic education in this community.
Recognising the partnership between home and school, we would like to invite Parents an opportunity to give feedback.
When: Friday 30th of August 9am
Where: School Office
Please RSVP to the school office as soon as possible.
LATE TO SCHOOL
Thank you to all families in our school who have made a conscious effort of being on time for school each day. The number of children who arrive late for school has dramatically reduced. Let's keep up these good efforts. School starts officially at 8.25am. Class rolls are taken as soon as classes enter their rooms to commence learning for the day.
Thank you to those students and families who are regularly on time for school, ready to learn from the beginning of the school day.
If your child is late for school, please accompany them to the school office and provide the office staff with a reason as to why they are late.
CATHOLIC CLUB ANNUAL MASS AND LUNCHEON
Thank you to our School Leaders, Teiarra and Adwin, who gave up part of their Sunday to act as our student representatives at the Annual Catholic Club Communion Mass celebrated at Mary Immaculate Eagle Vale. We are very grateful to Teiarra’s and Adwin’s parents for making their attendance at this important event possible.
Much gratitude is extended to the Campbelltown Catholic Club for their continued generous and ongoing financial support of Catholic Education in the Macarthur.
Since the inception of the Catholic Club 58 years ago, total donations made exceed a staggering $35 million. We are very grateful for the support of Campbelltown Catholic Club over such an extended period.

Camp Australia News!
Parents and carers,
How fast is this term going?
We have had a very busy couple of weeks following the Olympics. We were lucky enough to have a look behind the scenes into the Olympic Village and the Opals basketball team through the eyes of their team physio Paula.
We also sent the Opals and Paula videos and photos of posters we made. We also tuned in to watch Natalies triathlon and were cheering her on. We are now gearing up for the paralympics where Paula will be supporting the Rollers, the men's wheelchair basketball team.
We have also been creating items for Big Art Fridays, Principals day and are getting ready for Camp Australia's 30th birthday on the 10th September where we will be having a big open day party!
Coming up we will be focusing on: Fathers Day, Paralympics, and book week as well as our 30 year celebrations.
Bookings for the September school holidays have also opened up.
Please book ASAP to ensure we have a service in the holidays.
